The Red Dragon Private School
is a first language English
international school based in Limassol, Cyprus.
The school has Kindergarten, infant, junior and senior departments and
operates the English National Curriculum under the Edexcel and
Cambridge examination boards.
The school was established in 2007 by John and Joanne Howells, both
experienced teachers, who believe that education is the single most
important gift a parent can give a child. It is this belief that made
them decide to open the Dragon School.
The strong guiding principals of the school are that class sizes in
private education should not exceed 15 and that the most important
resource is the teacher. These concepts are fundamental to the
educational philosophy of the school. In this way class teachers are
able to respond to the needs of each and every child. All primary
classes are also supported by teaching assistants.
Please note that the school is English speaking. Teaching staff
have ability in other languages but the emphasis is on use of English at
all times and in all aspects of school life. If you consider this may be
a problem please do talk to John and Joanne about your concerns as they
could well prove unfounded.
In this technological age we are also aware of the need to ensure that
all students need a firm grounding in the use of computers. To that
end all classrooms are equipped with computers and in the Junior
school all children have a computer for their own use in the class.
Interactive whiteboards are gradually being installed in all classrooms.
To ensure that we are able to obtain well-qualified and well-motivated
staff our salary structure is very competitive. Our staff training
programme is linked to and approved by Trinity College, University of
Wales. The Dragon School has also entered into an agreement whereby
the school is regularly inspected by the University to ensure that the
experience we offer our children is second to none. All reports will
be featured on our website to allow parents to view them.
